Cheadle Hulme 1st were fired up to improve on the result against Liverpool with a 2-14 away win against the City of Stoke.

After being beaten by a strong Liverpool side in the first game of the season and having put in a great performance scoring 8 goals, the men in black travelled to the City of Stoke for game two. An easier game for sure but the concentration had to be spot on. With 4 strong players out, the lads had to soldier on.
Will Ashworth leading from the front started turning on the class and scored an early goal quickly, followed by our youngest player Ben Eglin scoring the second. Stu Beddows running hard in midfield, always working in both defense and attack, doing a great job for the team and breaking well after quite a lot of defense work.
The returning Tom Doona (3 years out) settled quickly into the second quarter and started to pull the strings up top. Arriving a little late to the game along came Gary "Tomo" Thompson to give the team a bit more of a lift and a steady hand in attack. 3 smart goals followed 2 by Ben and 1 for Tom which gave the men in black a 5-1 half time score.
With the lads starting to flow up top and the defense looking strong with Charlie, Dan and Harry being led by a fine example of the old guard stepping up to tend goal in President Tony Eglin, things were looking good. In the 3rd quarter (normally never one to remember for CHLC) the boys started to use the new system well and punish Stoke. Tomo started it well taking a feed on the crease after a fantastic team move to score a great goal. Ben then fired in from close range and the slick footwork, play and fantastic teamwork giving Tom a brace to finish the 3rd well.
Up stepped Chris Doona in the 4th taking a lovely feed from his younger brother Tom to score a cracking goal. Tomo’s next 2 goals surrounded an absolute thunder bolt from young George Mealand that his older bother would have been proud of! The lads finished the game with 5 goal hero Ben Eglin getting another. Job done! A solid performance from Marcus and Pete also ensured that the day was enjoyed by all the men in black.
A big thanks to Tony for stepping in at the last minute.
